Elder Care Job in Takoma Park, Maryland

* Proven experience in each of these three job areas * Preferably recommended by a church -- other job & personal references * Car, cell phone & laptop required * M, W, F (or Tu, Th, Sat) afternoon-to-evening hours (about 3-4 hrs at a time), Plus addit'l shifts on weekend or weekday for other helper's vacation time off * U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder * Fluent in English * Position entails: -- Follow rules to protect from Covid-19; -- Trustworthiness; -- Confidentiality; -- Mutually respectful, kind, caring, seasoned interpersonal communication; -- Be a self-starter; -- Be very organized & detail-oriented; -- Brisk work pace; -- Help create regular to-do list; -- Ensure its completion; -- A work contract; -- Tender loving care; -- Lovingkindness as you would a family member. Caregiving: -- Find & bring items needed to her bedside; -- Occas. play games for fun; -- Assist with regular stretches & short walks; -- Apply/remove bandages, -- Foot care; -- Bathe her; -- Hair wash in sink; -- Hair, grooming & similar help; -- Take cellphone photos & send to her email (to show changes in bruises or sores, of new head hair growth, etc.); -- Manual physical therapy, if able. -- Simple food prep; -- Clean dishes & surfaces; -- List food & supplies needs; -- Put deliveries of food & house supplies away; -- Occ. go out to get some; -- Clean & disinfect kitchen; -- Treat its occasional ants; -- Manage kitchen. -- Plan & decorate for Christmas, bday party, occ. gatherings; -- Greet visitors; -- Wrap gifts; -- Take packages to post office; -- Do other needed errands; -- Listen to her (e.g., share about her life); -- Provide other requested needs; -- Prep & gather Takoma Pk-advised emergency needs; -- Problem-solve; -- Etc. Housekeeping: -- Regular tidying, cleaning, & disinfecting of house; -- Put things where belong; -- Laundry (machine & hand wash); -- Fold & put clothes away; -- Manage clothes; -- Change her bedding; -- Help organize rooms; -- Help downsize stuff in rooms; -- Bring in packages, open them, list contents, & put away where belong; -- Etc. Administration ... to the extent you are able: -- Call offices for info; -- Manage incoming mail; -- Organize bedside papers; -- Organize filing system, create file folders, file papers; -- Downsize papers; -- Manage printer; -- Collate file print-outs; -- Teach new or better Mac skills; -- Solve Mac computer problems as able ... or take computer to be fixed; -- Fix documents & charts in MS Word & Pages; -- Set up & teach cellphone; -- Call companies & jot answers to research Qs in chart format, as directed; -- Manage donations of stuff; -- Sell downsized items online, if able; -- Oversee work of companies that come to work on house or yard; -- Tell us about your unique talents & we may ask you to use them in the job! -- Handle any unforeseen emergencies. -- Other duties as assigned.
