Job Posting: Hands-on Elderly Caregiver for Mom & Dad (Flower Mound) employment type: full and part-time Dad suffers with progressive Dementia/Alzheimer's. He just turned 90. Mom needs some assistance around the house. Dad has had a recent fall, and transitions (good and bad days) between: walking, walker assist, and wheelchair. They are supported now with Independent Caregivers covering 24/7. We are a close knit Christian family of 7, Mom/Dad and us (their 5 sons who all live around the metroplex). Dad's past interests include: Basketball; Baseball/Softball; Beanbag; Cards; Dominoes; Fishing; Walking; Bicycling; Travel and Outdoors; all group games. He's still the family champ with in-house ball tossing and beanbag games in the backyard! He also loves getting outdoors 1 or more times a day for a stroll around the park, across the street, and around the neighborhood. Both Mom and Dad have always been socially active and enjoy getting out of the house as much as possible. Minimum Qualifications include: Self-driven; Energetic; Patience; Family oriented; Passionate for what you do; Non-smoker; Fun to be with - generating smiles and laughter; Flexible and Dependable (partnering with the other team Caregivers to ensure 24/7 coverage); Must have self transportation (have your own vehicle with TXDMV registration, TX Drivers License); 2 years dealing with Elderly/Dementia/Incontinence clients backed by verifiable references Duties will include: - Medication prompting/monitor - Assistance with showering/dressing - Assistance/monitor/prompting restroom. Perform brief changes, and clean-up, as required - Assistance with meal preparation/feeding - Mobility assistance (some lifting required) - Physical Therapy exercises - Cognitive exercises - Daily activities: Outdoor strolls, ball toss, beanbag - Making Life Fun by generating smiles and laughter - Occasional doctor visit transport - Limited Mother support, light housekeeping, limited Errands We have immediate openings.
