Elder Care Job in Pearl, Mississippi

Job Overview: Our family is hiring a home caregiver in Pearl, Mississippi for my father who has Alzheimer's. I hope to connect with a knowledgeable, talented, dependable, pleasant individual with availability from 1 pm - 5 pm, Monday thru Friday. As the disease progresses, the hours will increase. My mother is his primary caregiver and needs help caring for my father and their home. **!! Coronavirus is of particular concern to us. Our family has been almost entirely quarantined since early March. We only go in public when absolutely necessary and follow the safety guidelines. We order and pick-up our groceries and other items we need, or have them delivered. If you do not take Coronavirus as seriously as we do, please do not apply. !!** Duties: • General companionship and conversation. • Monitor his activities. He has poor judgement and tries to do things that are beyond his capabilities and unsafe. • He’s a fall risk. • Entice him away from the kitchen when Mom is trying to cook. • Going on walks or sitting outside • Help with getting in and out of bed • Change bed sheets: Wash and fold soiled bed sheets, blankets, liners. This is a daily chore. • Straighten room (pick up his dirty clothes, put his shoes in closet) • Assist with transfers from chairs, bath, etc. • Assist with bathing • Assist with toileting • Assist with dressing • Assist with walking • Assist with personal grooming • Assist with daily exercises • Observe and discuss with family any health or behavior changes • Prepare and serve his snacks if requested • Make drinks available always and encourage him to drink plenty of water • Remind him to take his medications • Serve his food, make sure he has what he needs, help him get situated • Clean up his dishes, etc. after meals and snacks • Light housekeeping (They have a housekeeper who comes bi-weekly to clean. Mom needs help maintaining the day-to-day order.) • Pick up trash • Sweep floors • Vacuum carpets • Pick up his messes • Help keep the kitchen straight and dishes done and put away • Empty trash • Clean up in his bathroom • Wash, dry, fold, put away laundry • Make sure he is wearing clean clothes • Greet his guests or home health care personnel You must provide your own transportation. The top elderly caregiver would have some relevant prior experience although it isn't required to be hired. Additional Availability: You will not be required to work on major holidays.
