This position would be a companion position for my 96 year old mother. I plan to move her to Bandon Pacific View in the fall. My mother has dementia (generally chatty and happy) and she will need companion support from approx 9a-9p, 7 days, so I will need to find a team to help. She may not want to leave her apartment, or dress, preferring to sit watching TV. So the companion will possibly need to bring her meals to her room from the dining room if she doesn't want to leave, keep her company, watch TV with her, chat, make snacks. She likes to eat on a tray on her lap. She can walk with a walker. My mother takes meds and vitamins twice a day, with meals. Showers twice a week and needs help getting dressed every day (although she prefers nightgown and robe). She may need toilet help with bowel movements. Pacific View does provide care if the personal care is out of range of services you would provide, and they are available on call. Also I would like someone who would encourage my mother to get dressed and be with the general population occasionally. Her mind is more active with social interaction. My mother also likes to go back to bed for naps after breakfast, lunch and before dinner, so the companion would need to be comfortable with times alone in the apartment, perhaps doing her laundry as needed. And needs to be there when she wakes up. It's not a difficult job. But a caring and patient personality is a must.
