Elder Care Job in New York, New York

I'm an
Individual
google map) compensation: $23 an hour employment type: part-time Mentor for 27-year-old College Student (Inwood / Wash Hts) hide this posting My son, who is high on the autistic spectrum, is a college student at City College, where he is majoring in Chemistry, and minoring in Art. I am looking for an earnest, dedicated, well-organized, competent person to help him develop a variety of independent living skills. The job also involves supporting him in his academic pursuits, which would entail keeping him organized and keeping track of every aspect of his schoolwork. In addition, my son's mentors attend college classes with him, making sure he stays on task, and they supervise his homework and studying. I am looking someone with excellent organizational skills. My son is very intelligent, competent and gifted in a number of areas and he is very sweet, without a mean bone in his body. He has an enormous thirst for learning, and an incredible ability to acquire and assimilate knowledge. He has a varied range of interests: his greatest passion is chemistry. He is also a serious violin student. He has challenges in the areas of socialization, communication and attention. Since the best way to reach him is through learning, it would be great (but not necessary) to find a mentor with knowledge of science, art or music. It would be great to find someone with an advanced knowledge of Chemistry! But not necessary because I know how hard this is to find! We have a terrific team of gifted and dedicated mentors and we all collaborate together on developing programs and coming up with ideas for my sons lifepresent and future. This is a challenging, interesting and rewarding position that requires a lot of initiative and creativity. It is up to my son's mentors to bring the best of themselves to this rather complicated teaching project. I can fit you into the schedule according to your availability. Right now I'm looking for 6-12 hours, but more is always available since there are many opportunities for subbing. The salary is $23 an hour. We are funded through the social services agency, The Center for Family Support. Please email me your resume to me (Maxine) at: [email protected] and I will contact you and tell you more about this opportunity.
