Elder Care in Vancouver, British Columbia

I'm an
Individual
I was informed of your need for a caregiver and I would like to work as one with you. I am a certified healthcare assistant with good experience in the healthcare workforce. I earned my certification at Pacific Coast Community College and have had my practicum at Arbutus Care Center and my preceptorship at George Pearson Center. I have cared for seniors with physical and cognitive limitations. I have also cared for patients, in all ages, with traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries. These patients needed specific types of care to suit their conditions, as such suctioning, providing range of motion exercises due to inability to move, proper positioning to prevent bed sores, proper feeding techniques to avoid choking, safety practices in giving a shower to prevent injuries, catheter care, and more. In addition, I have mastered the use of lifts in safely transferring patients from the bed to the wheelchair and/or to the toilet. I have used the standing lift and ceiling lift many times for patients of different body builds. I also had experience working as a nurse in the Philippines and was assigned to the Neurosurgery ward where I have had patients with limited physical mobility problems. Other than the specific healthcare needs of the patient, I also believe in giving holistic care and do not just focus on the physical needs of the patient. Communicating therapeutically as well as having compassion when taking care of a patient is key to helping the patient progress and improve. I love helping others and I believe there is no better way to do this than by working in the health care profession. You can contact me anytime at 604 358 .... I look forward to meeting with you. -Safe transfers using different slings and lifts -Help residents to eat, wash, shower, and dress -Do preventive measures to prevent complications and injuries such as pressure sores -Communicate with residents to address their concerns -Help residents with mobility -Assess residents for symptoms and report any significant observations
