Elder Care in Calgary, Alberta

I follow all required protocols and still wear a mask in public. Non Smoker. Licensed Driver, New SUV, Insurance to transport clients is in place. I have been very fortunate in my career as a Certified Health Care Aide and have worked with and for, some wonderful people/clients. I am very outgoing and get along well with most people. I am professional, respectful, compassionate, gentle and loving, reliable and punctual. As well as easy going, friendly and chill. Being an HCA is a second career for me. I went back to college at the age of 44 to become a certified HCA after being a hairstylist/salon owner for nearly 20 yrs. I am currently back in the hair industry, working in Senior Living Facilities but am hoping to get back into a private care giving role, or both if I find a part time care giving position. I am a single woman with no commitments to young children. I speak English fluently it is my first and only language. I was raised in BC Presently I am seeking part time or full time ( should the right match come along ) care giving position. My first aid and CPR have both expired but would be willing to obtain again if required. I have had experience with clients with: Brain Injury, Huntington's, FAS, CP, ADHD, MSA, Parkinson's, various other diagnosis, and a lot of experience with various forms Dementia. My own mother also had dementia until her passing in 2021. I welcome the opportunity to meet with anyone interested in learning more. I have worked in Long Term Care in hospital, experience with ADL's, assist with feeding, mechanical lifts, sling tranfers, transfer belts. Clients with Alzheimer's , Dementia, Physical and Mental Health disabilities. I have worked in Home Care in 3 different communities ( Didsbury, Carstairs, Airdrie). Medication assistance/reminders, bathing, companionship are some of the duties included with home care. I have worked with a 71 yo brain injury client for 2 years providing companionship, speech therapy(minimal), safety and hygiene training. Ive provided respite for a young adult woman with FAS and ADHD, and also resided with a 23 yo young lady with Cerebral Palsy and ADHD in a supportive room mate situation. Teaching basic cooking skills, personal hygiene and house keeping skills. I was a care giver for a adult female with a terminal disease ( Multiple System Atrophy) and very limited mobility and various other physical challenges. Several other positions since these listed. Can discuss all in a phone conversation as this is getting rather long winded :) I would love to find another position providing care for the elderly with Alzheimer's or any form of dementia diagnosis. Or simply with a senior that needs assistance and companionship. Im very flexible and willing to do what ever I can to help out and make their life easier.
