Elder Care in Montreal, Quebec

I have a background in Studio Arts and Psychology at Concordia University with aspirations to go into a Masters for Art Therapy. I took a break from school this past year to live in Toronto and worked as a Personal Support Worker for several clients, two of which were quadriplegic, another with Multiple Sclerosis, and another with Cerebral Palsy. I also worked for a Seniors Company called Comfort Keepers where I was assigned to several different elderly clienteles to help with tasks that ranged from mealtime prep, bathroom aid, and house maintenance. Most importantly, my task was to provide companionship, understanding, and patience all the meanwhile. Through Concordia, I was the VP of Advertising for a philanthropy club called Volunteers in Action (VIA) for three years. During my involvement in the club, I gained organizational, networking and planning, fundraising, and coordinating skills for the several campaigns we hold every year. Our work and efforts mainly revolve around violence against women and local homelessness but as an association through the university, we also encourage community involvement within the student body through volunteerism and charity giving. Being part of this group has given me the tools to understanding how to work with others and how to complete a campaign or a task successfully, both things that required nothing short of patience and compromise. I’m currently enrolled in school full time in Montreal but am looking for a part-time position on the side.
