I seek to attain a position as a Personal Support Worker within your home or establishment, with this attainment I will be able to further develop my future practice as a nurse. Currently, I am enrolled full-time in the Bachelor of Science in nursing program; I have recently finished my fifth semester with good academic standing. During my first year, I was able to experience a fourteen-week placement in a long-term care facility. I worked alongside Personal Support Workers and assisted them with the clients daily morning care. This care included dressing, bathing, and feeding the clients. Additionally, I have worked as a casual PSW at the long-term care facility in Beeton, as well as part-time at Saint Elizabeth in the community in North York. I would like to continue on in learning the role of the PSW as to develop an in-depth look at their work. I believe it to be of the utmost importance for Registered Nurses to understand and respect each member of the health care team. This will greatly influence the treatment of the clients, and help to promote excellent care for each client. In becoming a nurse, I realize the importance of a caring attitude, which is what I will bring to each client I take care of. I am passionate about geriatric care and believe each client deserves to be treated with respect and dignity, all while promoting their individuality and autonomy. I bring with me my previous clinical knowledge from working in a care home, and in a hospital, as well as the skills I have built throughout my five semesters of nursing. I believe that I would be a great addition to the health care team within your nursing community and hope to be considered for the position.
