Hi there, I have extensive experience working with adults with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and also adults who are experiencing early signs of dementia and Alzheimers. I have attended a program at Humber College and have gained a lot of knowledge and experience through that. I continue to update my knowledge in different diagnosis\' and what I can do as a worker to enhance the quality of the individuals life that I am working with which I feel is absolutely crucial for this kind of work. I am a very easy going, fun type of person. I love to laugh and joke around with the people that I am working with, and often times have no problem making others feel comfortable around me. They feel as though they know me in a very short period of time, which is something that you may not find with every worker. I am willing to help your family with anything and everything you need help with. Since I have worked for Respite Services for the last year and a half, I have gotten used to have a hectic schedule. I am looking for one family to work full time with, or multiple families to share my hours with. I do not mind having a couple of families in one day to work with, and it does not slow me down at all. I have worked in multiple day programs in the Toronto area, and also Bruce County area. In these day programs I was to supervise the members and ensure their safety while they worked to finish their daily tasks. Some of the diagnosis that I am familiar working with are: Dementia, Alzheimers and Parkinsons. I have done personal hygiene care for individuals within group homes, and their own personal homes. Helped keep individuals sense of accomplishment in tact by allowing them to make decisions for themselves every day where other people may not have the patience for that. I have worked with individuals who have had mental health diagnosis such as depression, bi polar, schizophrenia, and also seizure disorders. My main task in most of these situations was to ensure that their quality of life was enhanced through the programs that they were receiving, and making sure that they were doing the things that they wanted to do.
