In 1984took a job as live in house manager for a home on boca raton beach.the wife was in a nursing home..... the week between accepting the job and my start date, my soon to be employer fell and was on the ground for 22 hours before he was discovered by his real estate agent the day before I was to start my job I got a phone call from Boca Raton hospital go to his house pick up his car and pick him up at the Boca Raton Hospital. My employer85 yrs old was six foot for 250 pounds and could barely walk..... that moment I knew I had compassion for the elderly..... make him happy,with a meal or a conversation, or some card games, or a ride along the beach,whatever made him happy gave me joy.This really is a rewarding occupation.
