Elder Care in Amarillo, Texas

Hello, I am a former ICU nurse seeking a position as a caregiver to someone elderly or infirm. can do light house work, assist with Activities of daily Living such as physical and dental hygiene. meal prep. and friendship/companionship to someone unable to do for themselves. A little about myself. As stated earlier i am a former ICU nurse. I am no longer able to work in direct care with contagious or seriously ill patients. I found out a little to late i had a congenital malformation of one of my heart valves. This condition resulted in me going into profound heart failure. the art failure required a pump to be placed in my abdomen to assist my heart to pump effectively. This pump caused a massive clot to be pumped to my brain resulting in a stroke. i was in a coma for almost a month. because i could not tolerate the pumps assist without problems. i required a heart transplant. i had a heart transplant in october 2014. i have been cleared by my dr to return to work. however due to the medications i have to take to prevent me from rejecting this new heart i can not be exposed to the germs and stressors of acute patient nursing. i can be a caregiver and companion to someone who is in a wheelchair, or unable to safely stay home alone. due to their own health issues. i have a passion for helping others and my faith is strong that God brought me through these experiences for a reason. and i plan to try and work everyday to make the world a better place to be. i am task oriented. computer literate, very organized, and capable of multitasking when called Upon to do so. i cared for my grandmother while she was incapable of caring for herself. she actually passed away last month. we would play cards. and visit and enjoy each others company.  i feel my unique experiences have left me with a wide variety of jobs i can safely and competently perform. i can communicate well both verbally and in written form. i am planning on starting classes next semester for profession retraining into the beauty and skin care industry.
