Elder Care in Vancouver, British Columbia

I recently qualified as a registered general nurse in Ireland, September 2012. As part of my training I worked in areas such as care of the elderly, medical and surgical wards in which I gained valuable experience and life long skills. I worked with patients suffering from alzheimers disease, dementia, PEG feeding, diabetes, poor mobility, stroke and terminally ill patients. Each patient I worked with had a variety a different needs and here I gained some great knowledge. I fed my patients, looked after patients personal hygiene needs maintaining dignity at all times. I looked after patients with colostomy/catheter bags, uncontrolled diabetes and assisted patients with poor mobility in a safe and effective manner. At all times I ensured that my patients received the best quality of care possible, and promoted independence for each patient. I feel that my past work experience would benefit my work with adults in care because I am extremely confident in my ability to provide a high quality of life for each individual. I also am comfortable with a high level of personal care and ensure to carry out such duties with the utmost respect for each individual.
