Elder Care in Ottawa, Ontario

Everyone gets lonely sometimes, and everyone gets busy. This was a lesson I learned 10 years ago when I started volunteering at a nursing home in Victoria, BC. With lives full of work and kids and school and goings on it can be hard to ensure that senior family members get the amount of friendly interaction that every person desires. Whether you would like companionship to the grocery store, doctors, or just playing bridge or going for a walk, I am the girl for you! I am available from 1030-130... Monday - Thursday. A little bit about myself? I am 22 years old and a 4th year student at Carleton University. I am studying History and American Sign Language and live in Centretown. I grew up in Victoria BC and this will be my first summer in Ottawa. I am bilingual in English and American Sign Language. I have a dog who I love very much and work as a nanny in the evenings. I started volunteering as a walking companion when I was 12 years old and volunteered for 3 summers. Now, I pop in to say hello every time I'm home. I believe that social engagement is a human right.
