My name is Marla. I'm interviewing for an in home caregiver position. I'm planning to apply my abilities as an in home caregiver. I can be available as needed. I am a 58 year old female looking for part time work as a companion/ gentle care giver. I recently worked with a senior lady where I prepared light meals, medications, offered companionship, accompanied her to appointments and assisted with showering. She has since moved into a full care facility. I also worked very closely with my Father for many years until he passed away from complications due to his Dementia. During his last year, I learned a great deal from the incredible PABs and Nurses who cared for him. I realized then, that I had a special kind of patience with my Father and all the other patients on his floor. I found it very rewarding bringing a little joy to these seniors and it filled my heart. I was given a letter of recommendation from the Head Social Worker of The Lakeshore General Hospital, as she was insistent that Senior Caregiving was my calling. I am kind and gentle, and very empathetic. I can place myself in the situation of someone needing care, and remember how lovingly I would want to be treated. My background is mostly in Meeting Organizing and Event Planning. Music is a huge part of my life, especially the old standards that brought so much joy to my Father, when moments got tense. I believe that music heals. My interests are swimming and Musical Theater, and as a pastime; I relax with an adult Coloring Book or a Crossword puzzle. Service Abilities: I am comfortable doing administering medication, assessments, and help with mental heath. On top of this, I am willing to travel. I have extensive prior history in the role.
