Elder Care in Quincy, Massachusetts

I'm an
Individual
I am an experienced, well-educated elder-care provider and recently finished a job with the same client, a 97 year old physician with dementia, with whom I have done live-in care for four years. For my clients I have planned the menu, done the grocery shopping, grew the organic garden, cooked, drove to the doctor or physical therapist, organized social events such as attending concerts, took the client to meet friends at a restaurant or club, organizing birthday parties. I become a patient advocate and stay at the bedside when the patient was hospitalized. Clients can receive support and encouragement doing their excercises and I provide intellectual stimulation to keep the ageing mind active. I managed the household and called in landscaping contractors, plumbers, electricians, Arborists, and acquired estimates for necessary repairs. I have more than 12 years of compassionate, non-judgmental, elder care-giving with excellent references. My Nissan Rogue is an elder-friendly car, easy to enter and exit. I organize medicines for the client to take and observe that they are taken correctly. I am experienced with clients with Dementia, Alzheimers, Parkinson's, and Multiple Schlerosis, I have worked in five different hospitals as a trauma chaplain and am familiar with the healthcare world. The additional feature of household and property management is offered. If necessary.

Recommendations

Lincoln E

September 7, 2017 To whom it may concern: I am writing this letter of recommendation on behalf of Susan Kains. She cared for my father between October 2013 and August 2017 in Hingham, Massachusetts, and reported to me in my role as attorney-in-fact on behalf of my father. Susan's role was primarily to assure that my father was safe, healthy, and happy. She fulfilled all three criteria brilliantly. Shortly after she joined the team of caregivers, she decided to move from Vermont to Hingham, and we made arrangements with her to live in a room in the house without charge. In return, she would be paid an hourly rate for her normal duty shifts, and it would be understood that, while she was not required to remain in the house at all times, whenever she was present she would monitor my father's activities and intervene if appropriate. On several occasions, she attended to him during the night and more than once helped him after he had fallen. She was very attentive to his well-being and did not hesitate to be of help even when "off the clock.” Susan also kept my father healthy. She and her teammates saw that he received medications appropriately, was taken to medical appointments, and was observed on an ongoing basis to ensure that his health was not compromised. Among other things, she took special care to prepare meals for him that were balanced and, whenever possible, prepared with organic ingredients. Finally, Susan played an important role in keeping my father happy. He progressively suffered from dementia over the years, but she consistently saw that his emotional needs were met. Susan has immense intellectual curiosity, ranging from classical music and playing the harp, to genealogy, to Native American culture, to myriad other topics, and she spent a great deal of time sharing her interests with my father, much to his pleasure. In addition, she would frequently drive him around town to keep his brain stimulated and occupied. Both in conversation and with her iPad, she kept him steadily engaged and, as much as possible, connected to the world around him. Susan Kains performed her duties in an exemplary way and was instrumental in my father, at the age of 97, still being with us as of the fall of 2017. I would encourage you to give her serious consideration as a companion and caregiver to an elderly person. Sincerely, L. Lincoln Eldredge
