Elder Care in Redding, California

I'm an
Individual
Hi! I am Melissa, I work in a large medical facility where I take care of the elderly/psychiatric/confused/people with bipolar disorder, multiple personality disorder, drug detoxing- patients/handicapped patients, even those that are missing limbs ...etc... If you contact me, and I can know this is a legitimate inquiry, I will then tell you more of those details! :) However, I am only working supplemental, not full-time. So, I am looking for the same line of work so that I can work more hours and still go in occasionally to my current job because I truly care for those who are in need of help! I have done the in-home IHSS Program, where I helped an elderly lady take baths/showers. I cooked and cleaned as well just to be helpful. I am very understanding and I love the work! IHSS took care of the finances when it came to me getting paid, so I took care of it, all she had to do was sign off on what I do for her care and how may hours I had worked for. :) I also lived with a Cystic Fibrosis Patient for 2 years and helped take care of him until he passed away. I made sure he got to have as much fun as possible, expecting nothing in return, just enough to help with bills. I do need the money right now, but I do not expect a lot. :) If bills are paid, I'm more than happy, and since I have a job, I don't ask for much! I know times are tough! I am feeling it too. Also, my best friend happens to have Cystic Fibrosis as well and she has to load all of her equipment to go anywhere. I help with it every time so that she can feel like every else. She tends to get easily depressed or upset over her condition, understandably, but I have learned depending upon diverse personalities that I come across to change the subject and keep minds busy and happy with positive mindsets!!! I treat these patients just like everyone else because it is a part of life, and I will do mostly anything it takes to help people smile when they are in need of help. It's a passion! I have learned a lot of patience working where I am right now. I get a lot of combative patients as well, and I seem to be able to calm them as much as possible without DR.prescribed medication. With the CF patients, I was expected (out of kindness in my heart because he was very forgetful) to make sure the patient I lived with had no smoke around him whatsoever. I also HAD to remind him of his medications; when to take them, help with setting up breathing treatment equipment, refrigerate the ones that needed it, and kept track of his daily calorie intake. That stuff really forced me to a lot of medical research, I try to help others be and eat as healthy as possible! Meaning, I had to talk with his Social Worker from Stanford to make sure his ensures and medical needs were sent to our door step, or I would go get it! I took him to the beaches and shooting rangeds, just so he could live like he was dying just like we all should! ;) I do not have room now for patient care living in my home, but I can commute in Anderson, Redding, Redbluff, Cottonwood, Palo Cedro, pretty much Northern places are fine by me for commuting. If you have a loved oneor just know of someone who calls for extra care, for in-home caretaking, or even just cleaning indoor/ outdoor, let me know if you would like my help! I would go as far as to fly out every other month with the live-in CF patient to Stanford, so he didn't have to go alone AND so we could make a fun trip out of it instead of a dreadful appt. I did all of that for NOTHING EXCEPT CARE. The extra things are just extra things I do out of my character, I just love the whole deal! I currently have to change bed-side patients in a very strict and professional manner. I love to cook too! Truthfully, ever since my mom passed away during home hospice, I have not stopped doing care-taking. When her team of supporters came in, it was one of the most positive impacting things for her in that stage of life, or state of mind. So, if you are someone who needs a little or a lot of extra help, just contact the show contact info via text or phone call. You can always email the address provided as well. Also, if money is the reason you cannot pay someone to dedicate to caretaking, I have been able to help a few people get the financial aid from different programs like IHSS, who will pay someone to got out to help you or your family. Just let me know your story and I am more than willing to help! I make apx $15-$18 right now, but am definitely willing to compromise finances!
