Elder Care in White Rock, British Columbia

Hi, I'm Faith. I'm a newcomer in this wonderful country. I am looking for a full time job as care provider for the elderly around Surrey, Langley, Delta, Richmond and White Rock. I live in White Rock, and traveling is not a problem with me. I am a Registered Nurse in the Philippines with hospital and On-Job-training experience for a total average of five years. I worked in hospitals both as a Staff Nurse and a student, which is why I had gained skills in caring for people of all ages, including the elderly. If not working in the hospitals, I kept myself busy visiting homes of people who requested for my assistance in our small community. I would help them with daily wound care and dressing change, vital signs monitoring, administration of medications, and health education. Moreover, I had personal experience of caring for old people since I took care of my grandparents for five years; both of them had dementia and hearing problems. Listed below are the responsibilities that I can perform well: • Personal Hygiene (Bathing, Dressing, Feeding, etc.) • Dressing and wound care • Care for mentally incapacitated • Tube feeding • Medication administration • Vital Signs Monitoring • Counselling • Some Household Chores (Laundry, Ironing, Cleaning) I love working with older people because I get to learn from them as well. This age group has certain insights about life and reasonable advice on how to deal with it. I understand that as they are nearing the golden years of their lives, they may experience depression; thus, they need someone to talk with and I'm a willing listener and companion. With all the experience I had, I must say that taking care of people, especially those in need, is truly fulfilling. Thus, I extend my service to whoever welcomes it.
