Elder Care in Calgary, Alberta

I'm an
Individual
With this letter I would like to express my interest in working for your family as a caregiver. I have always been passionate about this exciting but challenging position and it would be my greatest joy if you offer me the opportunity to offer the care that your family seek. Having spent seven years working as a caregiver, I came to realise that my passion lies in helping people who are less advantaged. I worked in small communities with adults with learning disabilities ranging from mild to severe. I also worked in a disability centre with individuals who have bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia and Alzheimer’s and challenging behaviour. I equally provided continuous emotional support on a daily basis and during stressful life changes. Though I possessed a Bachelor Degree in Economics, my experience in the care giving field and passion for this position gives me the qualities that you seek from a caregiver. I equally possessed First Aid and CPR training. You won't regret hiring me as your care giver. Thanks I have six years of paid experience and one year of voluntary experience in the care field. I have three years experience as a Support Worker in a disability and Adult Care Centre. My duties included but not limited to: administering bedside and personal care to clients such as aid in movement, bathing, personal hygiene, dressing and undressing; planning and preparing meals, including special diets, and feeding or assisting in feeding clients; performing routine housekeeping duties such as laundry, washing dishes and making beds; spending time with the client and offering a friendly chat; provides emotional support and feedback to clients (and their families and friends where and when applicable). I also possessed three years experience as a Community Support Worker. My duties included: helping service users to identify and choose their support needs; providing emotional and practical support to service users; supporting service users to actively contribute to the running of their own house; supporting and promoting the relationships with families and friends while maintaining a family culture within the home and the community. Above all, I have one year experience as a volunteer in a Blind Centre. My duties among others included: assisting blind people in movement, bathing, dressing and personal hygiene; assisting in groceries as requested by the manager and assisting in laundry, washing dishes and making of beds.
