My Name is Valerie and I am a caregiver. I have worked in facilities and homes and I have enjoyed both. The relationships I have developed with families have been very gratifying. I began my career with the School Board working there for 15 years. I then chose to work in Senior Care and my work experiences have enriched me. I have worked with people who suffer from Alzheimer, Dementia, poor mobility, and poor emotional and physical health. I believe that having a good and trusting relationship with the client is key to providing them with the assistance they need. I look forward to meeting you. I worked with a 60 year old woman who was hit by a bus and had an Acquired Brain Injury. My duties were to provide her with cognitive stimulation, physio therapy routine daily, promote communication with other residents, participate in group activities. I provided a safe environment for her to walk in and assisted her with grooming and dressing. I developed problem solving techniques which we practiced daily. I also advocated for her needs within the residence.
