I am NACC-certified, with 11 years of experienced Personal Support Worker (PSW) looking for part-time position in Waterloo and Waterloo Region. I have the following certificates: Standard First Aid, CPR Level C, Food Handler, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI), Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA) for Dementia Care, Valid Police Clearance/Vulnerable Sector Police Check, Negative TB result, Immunizations: flu shot, Hepatitis A and B (Twinrix) I have experience taking care of clients with significant cognitive impairments (Dementia, including Alzheimer's disease), physical disabilities and those who need assistance with activities of daily living. I built my experience as a PSW with private clients and clients from agency . I provide support in the comfort of the clients home (personal care, meal preparation, feeding, keeping active with daily routines, assistance with medication, light housekeeping and companionship/supervision). I chose the PSW profession as my second career because of my passion to make positive changes in peoples lives on daily basis. I believe that being able to stay as independent as possible in ones home is an essential part of keeping seniors and those with limitations (e.g., following a stroke or other acquired brain injury) comfortable, secure and happy.
