Hello! I'm Sheryll, I just finshed my Personal Support Worker course late last year and now got certified. Previous worked as a cargiver to a lovely lady who was in her 99th and was in palliative care for months. I have 4 years experience in caregiving. First 3 years (2014-21...) were from a family with 2 children, eldest child was diagnosed with spectrum autism. In line with this, I have to accompany the child to his weekly speech and monthly occupational therapy. Also, I have to reinforce at home, the learnings and skills the child acquired from those therapies. Other duties, include preparing stimulating activities and coversation that will eventually help the child cope with everyday situations at school and home. Year 2018, I thought of changing and upgrading my skills to more challenging world of care, the elderly. My former employer was suffering from chronic kidney desease. She has medication that should be given at a certain time, everyday exercise, and appointments. And by middle of the year was suggested by her Doctor to be placed under palliative care at home. I was appointed by the family to look after her 24/6 and do all possible help we can offer to make her feel safe and comfortable. Unfortunately she succumbed from kidney failure late last year. At the moment, Im waiting for my PSW certificate from NACC to be mailed soon. Would be willing to work as soon as possible, but can only do live out.
