A smile, a kind word, a helping hand and witnessing the impact of such simplicity could best describe what motivates me. As the live-in, primary caregiver for my late Mom who had Alzheimer’s disease, I assisted with all facets of personal care and with transportation to doctors’ appointments. I provided homemaking services and kept detailed records for continual open communication between family and health care professionals. I would like the opportunity to be a live-in caregiver again, to provide the safe, comfortable and supportive home I provided for my mother for another senior and to provide family members with peace of mind. I am willing to learn whatever is required to make my client feel looked after as if by a family member. I have a driver's license. Services And Training: I have participated in caregiver educational courses through the Alzheimer Society of Hamilton Halton and Acclaim Health. In addition, I attended two support groups, one facilitated by Acclaim Health which I still attend, and the other non-facilitated through the Alzheimer Society. These support groups allowed me to share, grow and learn so much about this disease and how to cope with it as well as how to survive it both as a caregiver and a child of a parent who had the disease.
