Elder Care in St. Catharines, Ontario

I'm an
Individual
To my Future Family, In this Life, we all need someone to help us, guide us,specially if we are busy earning and working for someone we love. We all need to help each other. I hope you can give me a chance to help you and your Family. Looking forward meeting you. Thank you and Have a good Day! sincerely yours, Susan Lawson One benefit to working with the elderly is it helped me realize aging is not a process to fear. I used to be afraid of the elderly because I was not around many people who were considered old. And after falling into this career I realized life is a process and a collection of memories. And every one, young and old, has a story to tell. And my love for healthcare grew even further when my mother had to have heart surgery five years ago. When you where scrubs day in and day out you tend to forget what it is like as a family member until you find yourself on the other side of the scrubs.Safety: Everyone wants to be safe and secure in any environment, especially their home. Although a nursing home is not the home they had built, worked all their life to pay off, or cherish-it is still their home. They need to be protected from others as well themselves. Demented residents sometimes can harm themselves or others with everyday objects we would not ever dream to be dangerous, because the illness they suffer from basically reverts them to a child-like way of thinking. They can harm others when easily agitated and them can harm themselves by thinking they can still walk when they have been wheel chair bound for years.Whether you work with elderly who have normal signs of aging or who have dementia-type aging you learn how valuable your own life is. Everyday we take for granted the fact that we can bathe, dress, groom and ambulate ourselves. We can think clearly and do as we please. But people who are disabled, mentally or physically, are not able to do a combination, or any, of these things for themselves. When they cry out of pain or for the ones they have forgotten we need to keep in check these were very proud and independent people who are not at the mercy of others for their quality of life. Nursing staff, from CNAs (Certified Nursing Assistants) to RNs (Registered Nurses) are essential to their care. Working in this field is not for the faint of heart nor is it for someone who thinks it is just a job. This job is someone else's life.
