Elder Care Job in North Vancouver, British Columbia

A Live-in caregiver is needed for our 90 year old, visually impaired mother who uses a walker. Mom is intelligent, curious and creative, loves good food and conversation but also enjoys quiet time listening to books and music, watching TV and writing in her diary. She lives in a home on a large lot with a lovely garden. It is on a main bus route with easy access to Marine Drive shopping and Lions Gate Bridge. The hours would be 1-2hours in the morning and 1-2 hours in the evening leaving the day available to work elsewhere. A regular caregiver will continue to help cook, go for walks and shop on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 2:30 and 5:30. Morning duties will include assisting in preparing breakfast, ensuring mom has taken her pills, tidying and setting up for lunch. Evening duties will include cleaning after dinner and checking that the house is secure. Other work will include general household cleaning, taking out garbage and reading and writing notes when needed. No personal care is required except for some grooming in the morning and after showering. Family members live nearby, are very supportive and will help with household issues as they arise. Accomodation is a private room and there is a separate bathroom with tub and shower. Salary and schedule are negotiable and compenstion will be give for extra hours. visually impaired, uses walker
