Elder Care Job in Vancouver, British Columbia

My elderly mother is in need of a caregiver in her home in downtown Vancouver. Duties include: planing and preparing meals, doing the laundry, light housekeeping, assistance with bathing and other aspects of personal hygiene, aid in ambulation and dressing/undressing, help with daily activities and errands, shopping for groceries, accompaniment to doctors appointments, ensuring she takes her medications, maintaining a safe environment in the home. She is on the wait list for hip replacements and in the time after her surgeries she will also need help with wound care. Additionally, in the months post-surgery, she will need help with her rehabilitation program and her required exercises. She is at increased risk for a stroke and her blood pressure must be checked twice daily, with records kept and submitted to a study weekly. Excellent communication skills are required. Health Care Aide license and references required, as well as at least 2 years experience in this field. This is a full-time position, 32 hours per week. Live-in option. The salary is $18.50 per hour, and includes room and board if live-in. She has a two bedroom, two bathroom 2-story townhouse in downtown Vancouver.
