Elder Care in Oshawa, Ontario

I'm an
Individual
My name is Megan Vink and I am 28 years old. I am a very down to earth, kind hearted person. I enjoy helping people in need. I reside with my family who I care for very much. My father has recently received a double lung transplant and is currently recovering at home. My mom and I do our best to assist him during this difficult transition. I understand what it takes to be a caregiver, as I've learned important skills from men and women in my family. I received my B.A in psychology at Trent University. I took courses in child and adult development, abnormal psychology, women and health etc. I continued my education by going to college where I studied mental health and addictions. During this time, I did my student placement at the Salvation Army in Oshawa. It was here where I learned how to be a good counselor. My lovely supervisor, taught me the necessary skills needed to be a trustful and well respected counselor. While at my placement, I did individual and group counseling, helped run workshops and volunteered at the food bank every Friday morning. My experience at the Salvation Army was indeed challenging, but opened my eyes to the many possibilities of helping those in need. Some of my hobbies include, cooking/ baking, music, watching movies and spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy trying to cook new recipes, especially for my dad who is temporarily diabetic. I enjoy walking my dogs in the evening with my mom. I am currently working on receiving my G licence as well as upgrading my first aid/CPR. I do have access to a vehicle the majority of the time. I am also considering completing a PWS program close by, which can help further build my knowledge and skills. I am comfortable doing laundry and other household chores if needed. I have a great deal of food experience, as I have worked in fast food restaurants. Recently, I received my WHIMIS training while I worked at the hospital food court. I am up to date with all my shots and my family and I obtain our flu shots every year. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask! I look forward to hearing from my next employer! Meg
