Elder Care in Toronto, Ontario

My name is Laura Moreno. During my studies of Occupational Theraphy, I was in an internship program and I worked at Alzheimer Day Care Centers, Hospital Stroke Rehabilitation, residences for elderly and people with intellectual disabilities. I have experience on wheelchair transfers, training and adaptation of daily life activities, personal care and physical and cognitive rehabilitation activities. Also, I have experience in blind people needs, since my boyfriend and grandmother are. I have the Canadian Red Cross First Aid and CPR-AED level C certification. English is not my first language, but I am able to understand and speak it. I worked for five years at a cleaning company, and also as a live-out caregiver before moving to Canada. During the last year, I have worked as live out caregiver in Toronto. I have experience working with wheelchair users, transfer techniques and lift transfers. I´ve work with a person with cerebral palsy and also with a person with a stroke and aphasia so I learnt about augmentative and alternative communication. I have been accompanying my last employer to the Toronto Rehab Bickle Centre where I could learn some rehabilitation techniques focusing on stroke. I am a very reliable, responsible and hard working person. I love working with elder and disabled people and I always give them a warm and close treat.
