Elder Care in Edmonton, Alberta

My name is Allison Salmon and I am seeking a full time live -in Caregiver Job with a loving family. I am energetic, caring, compassionate, sensitive to others feelings, humble and willing to help others. In my spare time i like going to the mall with friends, taking walks in the park, cooking and cleaning. I helped to take care of my grandmother who was diabetic and also terminally ill with cancer. I use to cook, clean, do laundry and provided comfort to her when her children weren\'t around. This brought happiness to her and a sense of belongingness. We developed a unique bond over the years and it brought her great peace of mind knowing i was beside her on her journey to heaven. While pursuing my studies i do volunteer work at a senior centre , where i engage seniors with mental health issues in recreational activities, do nature walks, and socialize with them. Being around these seniors reminds me of my own grandmother, so i have developed a special love and a soft spot for them. Seeing them happy makes me happy that i can make such a major positive impact on their life I assisted in taking care of my grandmother who was diabetic and later on had cancer. I use to cook, clean, wash and provided comfort for her especially when she became extremely ill. It brought joy to her having me around seeing that her children were abroad and wasn't able to be around as often as they like. We developed a unique bond and she was happy which gave me comfort knowing that she was at peace and resting in the arms of God. I am currently pursuing studies as an In-home Caregiver, where i learned about Caring for the Elderly, Disabilities, Nutrition, Cooking and Communication. I am also certified in First Aid and CPR. In addition, i do volunteer work at a Senior Centre in Edmonton with patients who has Mental Health Issues. At the senior centre I provided assistance, companionship and encouragement in group settings for adults with varying mental issues, to help them achieve and maintain their maximum level of functioning. Assisted seniors in leisure activities and created an environment for them that helped them to stay healthy, active and happy.
