Elder Care Job in Taos, New Mexico

Looking for a kind, compassionate and reliable individual to provide part-time, live-out elder care a for our loved one in Taos, New Mexico. The ideal candidate must have experience with dementia including, but not limited to: Capable of applying the best communication style and approach for dementia to maintain calm, knowing how to encourage engagement and healthy activity, how to help without infantilizing or demeaning the client, willing to develop a friendly and professional provider to client relationship. The right candidate will serve as a companion and assist with personal care as needed. Examples of personal care: Ensuring meals and snacks are eaten, ensuring oral medications are taken, monitoring and encouraging fluid intake, encouraging and supporting the client in completing light chores like changing bedding or putting away laundry, etc. The perfect candidate will possess a kind and patient demeanor, and will genuinely enjoy spending time with the client. Prior experience in elder dementia care is required, and a genuine interest in improving the quality of life for our family member is a must. We are offering a competitive pay of $30.00 hourly for this fulfilling role. The schedule will be 12 - 15 daytime hours per week beginning in early March with the flexibility to accommodate both our family's and the caregiver's needs.
