Elder Care Job in East York, Ontario

We seek a reliably, dedicated person, 10am-5pm, weekdays. Our elderly father is an intelligent, and gentle person who is used to being very active and independent. He currently lives on his own in an apartment, with family nearby. He has early stage Dementia, is no longer able to drive, and has difficultly performing several of the things that used to be part of his routine. You are compassionate, responsible, and energetic; able to accompany our dad on his long daily walks, and help him with activities around his apartment. Ideally, you have some experience caring for a person with dementia, and enjoy the challenge of helping them maintain a connection with their environment, interests, and other people as long as possible. You have good judgement between letting someone do something themselves, helping them with it, or doing it for them. You anticipate and pay attention to the evolving care needs as Dementia progresses, adapting the routines as needed. You enjoy planning healthy meals, grocery shopping, and cooking. You enjoy conversation, listening to stories, and telling your own; looking for a genuine connection and friendship. You are hardworking, and take pride in providing eldercare.
