I have a deep love for the senior population of today and the wisdom that they bring to us, the next generation. I have experience with seniors living out the aging process in many different aspects; all of whom have experienced loss in one way or another, be it physical or mental. My desire is to help those of the senior population continue to find meaning and fulfillment in life through the building of relationship, whatever stage they may be at. I also look forward to lightening the burden you may carry as the family that loves and cares for your senior loved one! Recreational Facilitator for Older Adults: I have worked for over 3 years as a recreation facilitator at a personal care home, dealing with seniors in groups and 1:1. I have experience working with seniors experiencing the aging process in many different ways; some who are cognitively well but physically declining, some who are physically well but have progressed dementia/Alzheimer's, and combinations of both physical and cognitive loss. My duties as a recreation facilitator included planning meaningful leisure experiences and programs for those of the senior population and implementing them. These programs could be done with large groups of 20 residents, or on a 1:1 basis. I personally found more enjoyment in the 1:1 experiences, building personal relationships with residents. My job also included assisting seniors in ambulation, pushing wheelchairs, assisting in walking, at times simple personal care such as putting on makeup and brushing hair and some dressing in the mornings.
