Elder Care in Montreal, Quebec

I am the mother of 3 girls who have all grown up and grandmother to 2 little ones. I have worked for over 16 years in a college and now I want to do something more hands on. I enjoy older people I have a lot of admiration and empathy for our ageing.. I used to sing in retirement homes and old age homes because I found them a little sad to be honest and I wanted to make them smile. I loved the contact and the stories and just being there. The residents always made me feel so welcome. I did take care of my aging family and maybe that is why I still feel the pull to be there for someone who needs me. I have taken care of two family members, one being my grandmother and the other my great aunt. I was with my grandmother until she passed at 93 years of age and my great aunt I took care of for 3 years until her passing. Both of these women eventually moved into my home until their last day. I loved and respected them as I would any senior person. I have a lot of empathy for them as they go through their last trimester of life. My grandmother had a catheter other than than making sure she was happy and comfortable and maintaining her pills it was more about keeping her happy, playing cards, walks and just keeping her company.
