I am a caring individual that strives to ensure the people under my care are treated with the respect they deserve. In addition, I ensure the individuals that I care for maintain their independence. I ensure to include the people under my care in daily tasks including decision making, as well as assisting with daily tasks/activities that allow the individual to complete independently and/or with minimal prompting. During my schooling, I had field placements within adult day programs in addition to working within group home settings. During my field placements, I conducted Functional Behavioural Assessments in which I would track undesirable behaviours and determine the contingencies maintaining these behaviours. I would suggest possible interventions that would replace the undesirable behaviours with desirable behaviours. In addition, I would assist in teaching life skills to these individuals by using least to most prompting.
