Elder Care in Calgary, Alberta

I'm an
Individual
Hi there, I am a 22, almost 23, year old Female. I am in the process of applying to college to be trained as a Medical Aid. I love the spring and fall. I love walking, and look so forward to having my own family one day. I have a 1 year old Dachshund, and a boyfriend. I am working part time at a grocery store at the moment until I find a position in this field, and then plan to attend school part time while I work. Before all my grandparents had passed away, they were my favourite people to spend time with. I think I get that from my mom. I grew up with my mom working at a mobile home park, so I got to spend a lot of time with many different seniors helping them with general house duties and simply just spending time and being a friend. When my Granny was very sick, I would visit her at the home and take her for walks in her wheel chair, and get her things she needed. We\'d spend time in the rec. room with the other seniors listening to records and playing chess or cards. I\'ve Nannied in the past and enjoyed it. I then moved on to being an administrator which I also Love. All the while, trying to figure out what I was going to be when I grew up. I didn\'t know that a Medical Aid existed, I thought you had to be a registered nurse or an LPO nurse to work with anyone in a hospital or caregiving setting. Until about a month ago, when I was told by a new friend that that was what she was taking in school. I am hoping to get into the Medical Aid program in September, and start the journey to learning how to care for seniors with more serious troubles. I have First Aid, Level 1. and I am willing to get a higher First Aid training if required. My thoughts are that I would love to spend time with someone, taking care of their needs, where they can\'t do it for themselves anymore, or if they just want help doing it. Someone they can call a friend and depend on. I don\'t know exactly how this works, and maybe not having the Medical Aid training isn\'t as attractive. But Im giving this a shot. I would love to meet with and have the opportunity to talk in more detail about what a job would look like for me and who ever is interested in hiring me to help :) Thanks for your time in reading this ! I look forward to hearing from you. My mom used to manage a trailer park and so I was always on the park property Gardening, Shovelling Snow, Getting Groceries, Cleaning Houses and spending time with some of the seniors. When my granny was sick and in a home, I would visit her and spend time at the home with her and the other seniors playing cards and having lunch with them. I enjoy hearing their stories and spending my time with their company. -Grocery Shopping -General House tidying or more in depth house cleaning -Snow Removal -Gardening -Walks, watching movies, Playing cards or board games, Reading Open to any more ideas or anything that is needed
