Elder Care in Oshawa, Ontario

Hi everyone! My name is Jessica, and I am from the Oshawa area. I am 22 years old, and I am currently enrolled in the Developmental Support Worker program which I have almost completed. I have enjoyed everything I have learned, and I have just finished my first placement with Participation House. I was responsible for assisting 4-6 adults with various developmental and physical disabilities with general care, activities and community integration/inclusion. I have always loved working with people, and I have previous nanny experience with children ages 1 to 13. My Grandfather was in a long-term care facility for 10 years, where I was very involved with his recreation and lifestyle. I thoroughly love the Developmental Services field, and I feel that I have found my calling! I strongly believe in advocating for the individual as well as promoting self advocation. I feel that everyone should have equal opportunity, and I am happy to lend a hand with someone wanting to achieve such. I am very outgoing, patient and personable. I always love to meet new people, and learn about them as well as the activities they are involved in. I hope to speak with some of you soon! The experience I possess with adults and seniors includes: Experience with adults ages 18-65 with developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, and dual diagnosed individuals. I was responsible in assisting with: meals, recreational activities, supported mobility, personal requests, dressing and minimal person care. I was also a nanny for a 12 year old female with severe Spina Bifida, where I assisted with meals, extra curricular activities, transportation to appointments and homework.
