Hi, I come from a beautiful little European country called Croatia, to be more exact: one of the thousand islands of the Croatian Adriatic. Since there\'s only around 150 people living on this little island I call home, there is a strong sense of community here - and from early age we grow up helping and caring for people around us. My journey continued in the capital of Croatia, Zagreb, and led to where You probably are right now - beautiful BC. I spent a year in Coquitlam, working in a Mental Health facility - a home of 6 clients (ages from 33 to 75) who are all being rehabilitated to the point when they are capable of independent living. In my one year there, two of our clients moved out - which was a big success for all of us! While working, I was also studying, which resulted as my Psychological Disorders certificate from the Online Counselling College in 2013. After a year in Canada, I came back to Croatia and now I\'m finishing my Training for Caregivers. It\'s a 6 months, full time, government accredited study program which enables us to work in hospitals, retirement homes, as live-in (or live out) caregivers or nannies. At the end of the training, there is an 18 days practicum in a hospital and/or a retirement home, so we get a chance for using all of our knowledge, skills and our will to help those who need help the most. As per standards of the European Union, we are also trained to give medications and injections such as insulin. We pay most attention to the care of the elderly: from understanding the aging process, assisting with mobility and personal hygiene - to proper nutrition, dealing with mental health issues and assisting a dying person. My experience includes working with PTSD, early stages of Dementia, Type 2 Diabetes, Schizophrenia, Mayor Depressive, Anxiety and Bipolar disorder. I am fluent in English, Croatian and basic French. I am currently in Croatia finishing my Caregiver training and Law School, but I will be back in Coquitlam in August.
