Elder Care in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

I am a mature woman, formerly a teacher, currently working from my home, and am offering a family-style assisted-living arrangement for an elderly person (or possibly two people). Your space will be the lower floor of a bi-level house, with a very private yard on a quiet street. Two bedrooms are available, with your own bathroom. The larger bedroom will comfortably accommodate a queen-size bed and the smaller bedroom has room for either a double bed or a twin, or could be used as a sitting room. Both have generous closets and large windows. The kitchen is separated from the bedrooms and bath by an entrance foyer and a playroom for the toddlers that come to my home for care, mostly on weekdays. My ideal client is an individual or a couple mobile enough to manage a half flight of stairs but in need of some assistance in order to maintain a largely independent lifestyle. If you're a gardener you'll be welcome to putter in the flower beds and vegetable patch, prune grape vines and cut roses for fresh bouquets all summer. I can provide some or all meals, or help you get to the store to do your own grocery shopping. I can supervise the administration of medications, help you organize them for the day or the week, or help you get to the pharmacy to keep your prescriptions up-to-date. I can do your laundry for you, help you with it or show you how to operate the washer and dryer that will be available to you. I can help you with housekeeping or show you where the vacuum cleaner is. I can co-ordinate your appointments and drive you to them, walk you to the bus or point you to the bus stop - all depending on how good your balance and sense of direction are. My goal is to help you remain as independent as possible. I am skilled at recognizing challenges and at devising solutions to cope with them. I have some furniture: a like-new double bed, bedside tables, armoire, and a large dresser with mirror, or you are welcome to bring your own things. The layout of my house is perfect for an extended family-type arrangement and I look forward to seeing who might become my "downstairs family".
