Elder Care in Leduc, Alberta
I'm an
Individual
I am a graduate from the Health Care Aid Program at Norquest College and I am trained to work with the elderly. I am able to take care of your loved one with dignity and professionalism. I am trained in dressing, bathing, and toileting of the elderly as well as all manners of personal care and grooming. I am able to give baths or showers as well as shave a client and change their incontinence brief when needed. I am also able to change bandages, administer medications (including oral, eye, ear, or topical), and help with post-operative care. I have been trained to transport and position a client to a wheel chair or to assist if they are on crutches. I am also able to give a relaxing back rub if the client is in need of some relaxation. I am familiar with the government legislation that guides safe, ethical, and personalized care and adhere to these guidelines.
I am also able to communicate professionally with families and problem-solve strategies to improve their loved ones comfort. I am familiar with the stages of dementia and can help with providing a high quality of life for the client in need. I understand the interplay between mental health and physical health and I am able to care for a client with a diagnosis of dementia in a respectful way, while implementing strategies to provide a high quality of life for the client.
I would also be able to carry out any occupational therapy needed (under the guidance of an occupational therapist) that has been shown to me by the family. I am trained in sign language (SEE) and I am able to communicate with a client who is deaf.
I am the grand-daughter of 2 elderly grandparents who live next door to me and I visit with them on a daily basis. I am able connect with them in this stage of their life, and can always find something in common with them. Whether we are just chatting, watching tv, playing games, or I am showing them something on the computer, I always enjoy their company. If you are looking for someone to treat your loved one like you would, I am the person you need to be in their life. I will always put their needs first and will make sure the family is aware of any and all concerns that I see.
