Compassionate, intellectually-engaging companionship for the elderly and/or disabled: Me: Well-educated and traveled, mature female, fluent in Spanish/French, compassionate, humorous, intelligent, respectful -- used to working with elderly people, single or couple. You: elderly single or couple and/or disabled person in need of bright companionship, housekeeping/house managing, shopping, and fine cooking. My CV: worked for 3 years with clinically-depressed 65-year-old male in-house; and for 8 months with 76-year-old female with late Alzheimer's, also in her home. Both were different and required a lot of skill, particularly the Alzheimer's sufferer. Both offered room and stipend, replete with WiFi and utilities. Both required long hours and infrequent breaks, hyper-vigilance --much patience and humor. What I don't do: drive, dispense medications without a written consent from guardians or next-of-kin. What I will do: work a long day for five/six days per week --with breaks. Take walks, read to my charges; do housekeeping (light), fine cooking, shop for groceries, help with personal care, and manage their comings and goings. Hyper-vigilance is a forte. Conversation and focused attention! KINDNESS. BACKGROUND: Grew up and was educated in Spain. Have spent the majority of my life in NY State, particularly Manhattan, where I was a successful Communications Director and Copywriter for 25 years. I am extremely creative and humorous; and of course patient beyond belief, which is essential in elder care. I write everyday and read continuously. I like to read to my charges! Based on your needs, I offer utmost flexibility. Lastly, I am energetic, imaginative and able to engage people of all ages. REMUNERATION SOUGHT: Private bedroom on the premises. All utilities and Internet access. Negotiable monthly stipend.. If live-out, we can discuss the salary which will be competitive.
