Elder Care in Belleville, Ontario

I am a caring, responsible woman with a great deal of interest in and compassion toward our aging population. Having worked in both a care-giving environment and having run a café which catered to the elderly, I have come to love, respect and value those in my community whose lives have slowed down as age progresses. I am currently taking a course on end of life care, and have experience with palliative care. I enjoy spending time with, encouraging and listening to folks whose years of wisdom and experience can be forgotten by a fast-moving world. My experience working with a variety of agencies provides me with a good working knowledge of available supports for seniors. The mother of a grown son, I have much flexibility with regard to hours and a lot of patience (and can cook up healthy, hearty meals in no time!) My ideal job would be being part of a team who seek to help individuals maintain a level of personal dignity, freedom and purpose, recognizing that the health issues with aging often leave seniors feeling lost and lonesome. I would love to help with meals, be company when needed, drive folks to medical appointments and largely, provide friendship and support—to both my senior friends and to their extended families.
