Hello. I am a certified health care aide/palliative care aide. Majority of my 15plus years of experience has been in long term care taking care of Alzheimer's patients and varying degrees of dementia. I choose to not care for the disease but for the person afflicted with the disease. The senior is someone's mother, wife, sister, aunt or dad etc. They have lived a long productive life. They have had experiences both good and bad. They did not ask to grow old and need help. They need to be treated with dignity and respect. I am able to assist clients with all aspects of activities of daily living. To help them meet their goals for the day. My tasks assigned are important and I will try to get everything done to the best of my abilities. However we are all human and we are caring for a human being with feelings and there own personality and will power. I will never force a client to do anything they do not want to do. Medication is the most important task of a day and I will continue to offer medications within the two our medication window however I will not force them.
