Elder Care in Irving, Texas

I began elder care full time in 2014 when I took on full time care for my 90 yr old father. During that tenure I also worked for my neighbor in the summers. After his death I took on responsibility for a 90 year old dementia patient helping her recover from a trauma situation and prepare her for a care facility. Since that time I have had multiple clients with a variety of needs. I also have worked with family members to help them manage the care of their loved one and to accept the death of my hospice patients. My skills include light housework, laundry, meal prep, bathing, catheritizing my Dad, exercising, expanding clients world, transportation, 24/7 hospital coverage, medication management and distribution, well being monitoring and management, doctor visits, post hospital care, working with family members, etc. The truth is that I focus more on the individual. How can I help them maintain their dignity as they age and find enjoyment in life? I like to identify the need and see if I can meet it. For example to help on of my clients I recognized when she needed hugs and touch...this helped her feel safe. I would drill her on her family to help keep those memories fresh. For my Dad I would laugh and joke with him to diffuse the embarrassment of needing to have me cath him or when he messed his pants.
