Winfred has cared for my parents for the past three years in their home full time. We hired her as my mother’s health was deteriorating and my father’s Alzheimers was progressing. My mother was determined to stay in her home and at the same time was not pleased with having full time care in her home. My mother came to adore Winfred as she had not any other caregiver. Winfred’s quiet manner, consistent care and patience won my mother over. Winfred went above and beyond the care we expected. She helped my mother recognize simple diet changes that would make her feel better. She quietly and gently encouraged my mother to make better decisions about her diet. My mother had diabetes and was never good about her diet. Winfred paid close attention to her diet and my mother had some of the best numbers the last few years of her life! My mother enjoyed Winfred’s company and appreciated the care she received. They would laugh and giggle together often. My mother was not an easy person to get along with at times and Winfred handled her with grace and patience. It was a comfort to be able to trust Winfred with all of the grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning and caregiving. She had full access to my parents’ entire home and we trusted her implicitly to care for not just my parents, but the home. When my mother passed away a few months ago, Winfred took on my father and his deteriorating dementia without missing a beat. She has patiently cared for him, provided him with healthy meals, cared for his home, taken him to doctor’s appointments and kept him safe. My sister and I both work full time and were not able to be in the home often. We had no concerns that he wasn’t being well taken care of while Winfred was there. We are now moving my father to a memory care facility, and sadly do not need Winfred’s help any longer. She has become like a family member, though, cared lovingly for our parents and we recommend her highly to anyone seeking consistent, loving, patient care for their loved one.
